Technology Innovations To Help You Thrive

The future of cardiovascular care is looking brighter and brighter. From new 3-D mapping systems to minimally invasive pacemakers that are less than one tenth the size of a traditional pacemaker, our innovative technology will make you believe in the unbelievable.

Your Health, Assisted By Technology

Your health is your top priority — and it’s ours, too. That’s why we’re constantly innovating with new assistant devices that can boost your health now, without invasive procedures.

There’s always another way. If traditional open-heart surgery isn’t an option for you, a mitral valve clip is a safer, more effective treatment that’s minimally invasive and gives you a faster recovery. Your surgeon will connect the mitral valve clip to areas of the mitral valve and position it in real-time, decreasing your risk of heart failure. With the largest MitraClip® program by volume in Florida, find comfort knowing our surgeons perform more MitraClip® procedures than any other hospital in the state.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) gives you another option for heart surgery when you’re not a good candidate for traditional open-heart surgery. The procedure, initially available only to those at high risk of complications from traditional surgeries, was recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in moderate-risk patients. Our surgeons were some of the first to perform the minimally invasive procedure — and our program has grown to be one of the largest in the Southeast.

Ease off blood-thinning medications with the minimally invasive Watchman device — a first-of-its-kind implant that prevents blood clots and strokes in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.

Breathe easier and boost your strength with the Heartmate III™, the new gold standard in vascular assistance devices. This innovative LVAD technology may be an excellent option if you’re a heart failure patient; it will help pump blood through your body, increasing the flow of oxygen to your organs. AdventHealth Heart, Lung and Vascular Institute was ranked number six in the United States for the Heartmate III™ trial in 2016, making us the most experienced in the state of Florida when it comes to implanting this potentially life-saving device.

More transplant options, less wait time. By implementing this newly advanced technology, we can help increase the percentage of donor organs that are fully qualified and ready to meet our patients’ treatment needs.

We’re pushing forward to provide more options for your heart. In October 2017, we performed our first total artificial heart implant, establishing a viable alternative to a traditional transplant.

Less-invasive treatment could mean faster healing. We’re a national leader in percutaneous valve technology, with one of the largest Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) programs in the country.

The da Vinci robotic surgical system allows surgeons to perform complex procedures through small incisions, which improves patient outcomes and reduces recovery times. Advanced technologies like the da Vinci continue to change patient care for the better, making surgeries safer and more precise. Our dedicated physicians and specially-trained teams perform the following robot-assisted heart procedures:

  • Bypass surgery
  • Left atrial appendage ligation
  • Pericardial window surgery
  • Robotic revascularization
  • Surgical treatment of heart disease and arrhythmias
