Rajesh Tota-Maharaj,MD, MBBS, FACP, FACC, is an interventional cardiologist board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular medicine. He earned his medical degree at University of The West Indies Mt. Hope Medical Campus in Trinidad and Tobago and went on to complete prestigious fellowships. During his fellowship at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT, where he served as Chief Cardiology Fellow, and at Johns Hopkins Hospital where he treated patients requiring cardiac catheterizations and percutaneous coronary interventions. Dr. Tota-Maharaj has won numerous awards for academic excellence and has published a number of studies investigating coronary artery calcium and its relationship to disease risk, mortality and coronary plaque burden. Other studies have researched troponin testing in non-cardiac patients, statins in diabetes treatment and managing metabolic syndrome.
